AI4Science coordinator, Prof. Sašo Džeroski, succesfully delivered the full-day course “AI for Science”. The event was held at Jožef Stefan Institute on May 21st and brought together researchers, scientists, and AI enthusiasts to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming scientific research across multiple disciplines. During the course, participants were introduced to explainable machine learning, semi-supervised learning, foundation models, automated scientific modelling, and semantic technologies, alongside practical applications in life sciences, environmental sciences, and materials science. Professor Džeroski also presented the Slovenian AI Factory initiative and outlined the opportunities it offers to the scientific community through its AI-for-Science vertical. The event was attended by about 220 participants (70 in person and 150 online).
